Materials Recycling Center of Excellence (MRC) at Wroclaw, Poland has been created as a leading recycling center in Central Europe. Principal objectives of the Center include:

- integration the science and technology sector of the Newly Associated States  (NAS) into the   European Research Area;

- dissemination of a knowledge on recycling of various products (waste packaging, end-of-life vehicles, electronics, buildings);

- putting capabilities of science and technology sector at the service of the economic and social needs of NAS.

Specific objectives of the Center are as follows:

- improving links with outstanding centers in the EU and the NAS;

- twinning with the Virtual European Recycling Centre (VERC);

- reestablish links with Ukraine, Russia and other Newly Independent States;

- increase networking with other Polish universities and research institutes;

- integrating academy and business for interconnecting ecology and economy;

- increase capacity of the Center by assembly of the training installation for plastics recycling;

- attract young researchers by offering access to modern equipment and interesting field of research of applied character;

- increase participation in FP6 projects.
